Important Security Notice: Incident Affecting Your Wago.io Account

We are writing to inform you of a recent data security incident that may have affected your personal data. We identified unauthorised remote access on one of our web servers for Wago.io on 24 February and the team has been working continuously on this since identifying it. The issue has now been resolved, and we have taken steps to secure the affected systems.

For accounts created on Wago.io the following information may have been accessed:

  • Email addresses
  • Usernames
  • Linked social or platform accounts
  • Password data in a randomly salted hashed form (not plaintext passwords)

Wago does not store passwords in readable text. Passwords are stored as hashed values in order to protect them even if they are exposed.

Based on our investigation, the primary risk to you is an increased likelihood of phishing attempts (for example, where fake emails are sent to trick you into opening a file, visiting a website, or stealing your credentials). While the risk of passwords being directly identified is considered very low due to the protections applied, we recommend taking the precautionary steps outlined below.

What you should do now:

  • Be cautious of unexpected emails or messages claiming to be from Wago or related services;
  • If you use Patreon or Twitch integrations, reauthorise your connection to Wago; and
  • As a precaution, reset your Wago password and, if using the same password for other services, reset the password for those services as well.

We take the security of our users seriously and understand the concern this may cause. We continue to review this incident and are undertaking additional security and monitoring measures to further strengthen our systems. We have also notified the UK Information Commissioner's Office (UK supervisory authority for data protection matters) in accordance with our data protection obligations. We sincerely apologise for any concern or inconvenience this incident may cause and remain committed to protecting the security of our users' information.
